2006 is so far the best year in the number of NLC sightings - total of 38 observations were made. This again is due to extra effort used in observing and also due to very clear July and early August nights. There was only one very bright display (in page 3 of 2006) but what most thrilled me was a new vantage point on a hill top; my home city can be framed to the bottom of the picture.
There was some experimenting with digital pocket camera PowerShot A620 (pictures with name "IMG---"), but still, I felt "it has to be film..." However, digital is a nice tool to make a live check of the NLCs and of their extent in the sky.
