Open sea and large lakes are 'famous' of their (superior) mirages. Perhaps these phenomena are more frequent over water and perhaps stories of ghost ships and of Fata Morgana are familair and too thrilling leaving less interest in land observations. However, cold and calm winter mornings can create nice displays of distant tree lines as shown on this and on the next page. Note also how fog is miraging between tree lines.
