Isokari island is 14 kms away from my photography site. On the island there is a lighthouse which has three red and three white bands of equal width painted on it (see the reference picture on the first row). On the island there are also a whitish sea pilots' house and some other buildings and f.ex. a white satellite dish next to them. This page and the next three pages show superior mirages of those objects.
In many cases details appear relatively tiny in these images. Be sure that you have enlarged the picture to 100%. (Bring the cursor over the image and check whether or not it shows an enlarging glass with a plus-sign.)
Earlier there was some general discussion of superior mirages and that discussion will not be repeated here. A large number of mirages on these pages is also posted in video section. There you may notice how low a contrast mirages often show due to distance and haze. It is be fair to say that a good superior mirage is not too frequent but even worse is the lack of good visibility (and contrast) on those rare occasions.
For a more comprehensive approach to the subject see
Andew T. Young's great pages.
