On this page the sun is mangled by inferior mirage during sunset/sunrise. The first five rows show single images, while in the bottom of the page you see different kinds of compositions compiled from several consecutive pictures (compiled in PhotoShop; not during photography).
When the sun approaches the sea surface a mirror image is born and rises while sun sinks. When they touch each other an atom bomb effect is created. In this kind of situation the last ray does not come from the very horizon but rather it is as if it was absorbed in the air. Note how miraging islands are silhouetted agains the solar disk.
