October started with a most spectacular display on 1/2. All images on this page are from that night. Auroras were on all night showing a great many different shapes and once and while extremely bright curtains. There was less colour than what I have become used to during the last few years. Due to bright details there has been problems in controlling the film not to burn it white. In this page some of this is compromised to show properly all the details in slide. This contrast problem is much due to used films Kodak Ektachrome 100 EB and Fuji Provia 400, which both are push processed two stop. This increases contrast and especially in Fuji image also turns to somewhat grainy. The benefit is a better response to all auroral wavelengths with Kodak and the possibility to freeze fast moving auroras with Fuji.
